Born in Paris and raised in Toulouse, France,
Jerome started showing his interest for music by the age of 6. He
studied the cello, piano and guitar. As a teenager, he studied Harmony
and composing followed by his final instrument, the tenor saxophone.
In France,
he joined several student bands and studied Bebop with some of the
masters in Strasbourg. He learned Portuguese when he went to live in Portugal and started playing for the Jazz Band from the Tuna Academica de Coimbra as a soloist. The band traveled around Portugal and Europe in 1997. During this time, he also joined the Belle Chase Hotel band.
In 1998, he came to Brazil and met some of the biggest artists such as Lenine and Filo Machado. Amazed by the nightlife in Sao Paulo, he decided to give up his career as an economist to dive into the music scene. He
studied with saxophonist Caca Malaquias (Banda Mantiqueira), Demetrio Lima (Jazz
Sinfonica), Rogerio Costa (Aquilo Del Nisso) and Paulo Oliveira (Orquestra Popular de Camara). He took brazilian music and band practice at ULM University of Music being Naylor Proveta Azevedo, Roberto Sion and Luis Miguel Wisnik some of his teachers.
Jerome has played in São Paulo
very often in pubs, bars, restaurants and events. He has got several
musical projects from Samba, Chorinho, Jazz, Funk to Forro. From this
projects, we must mention Le Petit Comité, leaded by the vibraphonist
Andre Juarez.
Now Jerome is currently staying in Beijing, China, until the end of this year.
